Rizhao Steel Group has been selected as a national-level "Green Factory"

On March 23, 2023, the official website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the list of Green Manufacturing for the year 2022, and Rizhao Steel Group was honored as a national-level "Green Factory". This is another prestigious recognition for Rizhao Steel, following its previous achievements such as being awarded the "Green Factory of Shandong Province" and the "Advanced Unit of Comprehensive Utilization of Resources in Shandong Province". It highlights Rizhao Steel's long-term commitment to green operation, low-carbon development, and clean production, further affirming its dedication to sustainability.

The national-level "Green Factory" creation activity is organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as a nationwide selection initiative. It aims to implement the "Made in China 2025" and "Industrial Green Development Plan," accelerate the construction of a green manufacturing system, and create advanced model of green manufacturing enterprises. The "Green Factory" is the core supporting unit of the national green manufacturing system, with a focus on the greening of the production process. Selection for this title involves several stages, including self-assessment, evaluation by third-party organizations, recommendation by local industrial and information technology departments, expert demonstration, review, publicity and other links. Factories must meet rigorous standards such as land intensification, clean production, wastes recycling, and low-carbon energy.

In recent years, Rizhao Steel Group has been committed to balancing economic development and environmental protection, steadfastly following the path of ecological priority, green low-carbon development of high quality. It has comprehensively promoted ultra-low emission transformation, continuously explored new paths for energy conservation and carbon reduction, and strived to build a resource-efficient and environmentally friendly enterprise. Since 2019, a total of 233 environmental protection projects have been implemented, including the complete closure of material yards, environmental upgrades of the feeding belt conveyor system, optimization and enhancement of flue gas desulfurization and denitrification, and clean transportation. The exclusive introduction of the ESP hot-rolled strip steel production technology, hailed as the third technological revolution in the steel industry, has reached the international leading level after secondary development and integrated innovation. The products have obtained green product certification, which has made positive contributions to energy conservation, emission reduction, green manufacturing, and low-carbon development, and effectively promoted the construction pace of green factories. Through collaboration with the Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute, Rizhao Steel Group has scientifically formulated a special plan for carbon peaking and low-carbon development, systematically assessing its current carbon emissions status and potential for carbon reduction, contributing to the achievement of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality with the strength of Rizhao Steel.

Being awarded "Green Factory" helps to improve the core competitiveness of products, promotes market expansion, and contributes to product brand building. In the future, Rizhao Steel Group will continue to promote green transformation and upgrading, actively respond to and implement the national policies on carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, accelerate the promotion of green and low-carbon development layout.
